Bear Week Highlights!

What a fun-filled week!

Take a peek at our kindergartners cheering on the third, forth, and fifth graders during the Irving Turkey Trot.

This week was all about bears!  We read fiction and nonfiction bear books, created blueprints to identify key details and evidence from the text, and we topped off our week by sharing our bear research with our book buddies.  Take a peek at our kindergartners and their book buddies using the Chatter Pix app to publish their bear research! I can't wait to share with you your child's finished project!

This week we reviewed our first trimester word wall words.  Our first trimester words are: a, can, go, have, I, like, see, the to, and we.  Please continue to practice sight word lists with your child at home.

In handwriting, we began writing our Magic C capitals.  Please ask your child to share with you how to write the letters C, O, Q, and G.

Take a peek at our kindergartners hard at work during our Daily Five reading and writing stations.

In math, we introduced measurement and the math vocabulary longer/taller and shorter. We loved comparing how tall or short we were with our classmates.  Take a peek at our kindergartners exploring measuring with their math partner.  We enjoyed comparing our findings with our classmates.

Thank you to all our parent, grandparent, and friend volunteers this week.  Take a peek at our kindergartners enjoying activities with our classroom helpers.

As we look ahead to our field trip, it looks like it will be a chilly November day.  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the Brookfield Zoo.  During our trip, we will take a guided tour at the Great Bear Wilderness, explore zoo exhibits, and have a picnic lunch.  Please make sure to pack a brown bag lunch that is 100% disposable for your child on Tuesday.

As you take a peek in your child's folder this afternoon, you will find we do not have a homework packet for next week.  Please enjoy the short school week and long Thanksgiving Break.  However, don't forget to read with your child every night!
