Week 11 Highlights!

What a busy busy week!

A major highlight was HALLOWEEN! On Tuesday, we had fun Halloween centers in the morning. In the afternoon, we changed into our costumes, paraded around the school, then had a party with family and classmates in our room! It was loads of fun! Take a look at our festive activities and costumes!

On Monday, we had a Mystery Reader - Christi Walkup, Ava's mom! She read us a holiday favorite, Room on the Broom! Thank you for visiting!!

During Daily 5 this week, we continued to work on beginning sound sorting, our sight words, Lexia, and reading to ourselves.

In Readers Workshop, we went book shopping to find our "just right books" and interest books. We have been working to build reading skills with partners, with teachers, and with our small groups.

In Writer's Workshop, we focused on 2 new goals this week. 1) Using Finger Spaces; and 2) Adding a beginning, middle and end to our story. We continue to incorporate all our of writing strategies, and practice writing the whole time. Next week, we will build on these goals and focus on these "big 5" for the rest of the unit.

We continued with our math tub work from last week. We also continued to focus on shapes and number formation. We were hard at work with some Halloween Numbers/Counting in the afternoons this week!

We reunited with our Book Buddies after many weeks apart!! Our buddies helped us complete a pumpkin exploration book. We rotated around stations measuring pumpkins, recording height, counting seeds, and drawing how to decorate our pumpkins.

We made it 50 DAYS OF KINDERGARTEN! Here are some photos of our growing Kinders!

It was a fun and busy week! Enjoy the weekend!
