Our stories of the week were Flip, Float, Fly: Seeds on the Move by JoAnn Early Macken and Seed Secrets by Tom Leonard. Using our two informational texts, we discussed how seeds traveled. We compared and contrasted the text using main idea and details. We also discussed and analyzed unknown words and word choice.
We added one new word to the word wall this week. Our new word wall words is down. Please continue to practice identifying, reading, and writing our kindergarten word wall words and sight word lists with your child at home.
In writer's workshop, we began our plant research project. Using the our stories of the week, Brain Pop videos, and our science curriculum, we collected and organized information for our final project. We can't wait to share our own informational writing.
In whole group math, we continue to review our kindergarten math concepts. During math tubs we practiced counting on, 3D shapes, addition, subtraction, and measurement.
In science, we received investigation kits from the Oak Park Conservatory. Inside our kits, we experimented with traveling seeds. We read, discussed, and explored how seeds can travel in air, water, on animals, and by exploding. Take a peek at our kindergarten scientists.
Take a peek at our kindergartners enjoying popsicle and read and relax day during our ABC countdown.
